So here goes nothing...
What do Iowa weather and pregnancy have in common? They are both unpredictable. There was supposed to be a snow storm on its way and with my due date approaching my mom decided to come stay with us so when Baby #2 decided to make his/her arrival she could watch Brayden. So she came on Wednesday. Thursday morning I had a doctors appointment where my doctor stated I was not making much progress and asked if I wanted to be induced. I let him know since everything looked good I wanted to see if baby would come on its own. He politely let me know that we would schedule a non stress, ultrasound and office visit for the following Tuesday and most likely they would induce labor after that. I left feeling like my body would know when it is ready. Thank goodness my mom was here as I was tired and didn't feel very good the rest of the day. I wasn't having contractions though so I chalked it up to being 39 weeks pregnant.
10:00 P.M. Things got interesting and the next few hours flew by. Andrew had been downstairs watching a movie and when he came up I left him know I was feeling like I did the night before Brayden was born. Andrew reminded me the hospital was a 15 minute drive and we were in a storm watch so he said we were going to go sooner than later. I said I didn't want to risk it so we would wait till 11:00 to see where contractions were. Sure enough they were 6-7 minutes apart. We woke Grandma to let her know we needed to go and Andrew packed up the car.
On the way to the hospital Andrew was kind enough to listen to country rather than NFL network and on the way to the hospital we heard our wedding song. It was a nice comfort in between contractions and something to think about instead of the snow covering the road.
We got to the hospital shortly before midnight. Once checked in they took us to our room 3014. Here is where things got a little blurry literally I took my contacts out :) There was a steady stream of nurses in and out. With the change in weather there were lots of other moms in labor too.
At 1:49 A.M they placed all 6 pounds 14 ounces of my sweet baby boy on my chest. As soon as Landon was born he let out some big cries to tell us he was ok. It was amazing how quick and smooth everything was. Andrew had mentioned a few weeks prior that his Papa had passed away on 2/22 and that was also Brayden's baptism day and I said I have a feeling that is the day our baby will be born. Sure enough it was. Papa was watching over us and reminded us of that by showing us new life.
Showing off his cry to the nurses.
First family picture with Landon.
Happy Mama and her new baby boy!
